Pauline L. (Julien) Major, 87, of Manchester, died December 16, 2016, after a sudden illness. She was born on March 4, 1929, the daughter of Alfred and Lafayette (Dion) Julien in Manchester, NH. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
She was predeceased in 2015 by her husband of 65 years, Armand J. Major.
Mrs. Major graduated from Saint Augustin Grammar School and attended Manchester Central High School. She worked at J.F. McElwain Shoe Co., before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Later she worked at Treisman, Inc., Service Merchandise and RCL Electronics. Before retiring, she was a drapery consultant for Montgomery Ward.
Mrs. Major was a member of Saint Augustin Church Children's Choir and Saint John the Baptist Augmented Choir. She was a member of Saint Anne's Sodality and of Saint John the Baptist Church Women's Club. She was a charter member of the Manchester Boys' Club and Bugle Corps Parents' Association.
Mrs. Major enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a talented seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, embroidery and gardening. For many years, she was an avid bowler and took part in area bowling leagues. Coming from a musical family, her love of music was lifelong. She often played her piano for family enjoyment.
She relished vacation trips and over the years travelled with her late husband to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, Hawaii and Alaska. Spending time with her family was important to her, and she was happiest entertaining everyone at her home celebrating birthdays and holidays.
This past year Mrs. Major resided at Carlyle Place in Bedford. She was an active participant in the arts and crafts program and other activities. She was especially proud to have been named a Carlyle Resident Ambassador and often conducted tours of the facility for visitors.
She is survived by her four children, Denise S. Labore and her husband, Mark, of Jefferson, Marc A. Major and his wife, Victoria, of Manchester, Paul G. Major and his wife, Susan, of Nashua and Norman A. Major and his wife, Rita, of Manchester; six grandchildren and many great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three siblings, Gerard Julien, Simonne Julien and Andre Julien.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Youville streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt.
