Pauline N. Poulos

October 1, 1934 — December 8, 2023

Manchester

Pauline Nancy Poulos, 89, of Manchester died peacefully in her sleep on December 8th, 2023.

Born in Manchester, NH on October 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Donat Henri and Annette (Bourque) Mailhot. She was a graduate of the St. George High School for Girls in Manchester.

Prior to retirement, she had been employed for 37 years as an operator with New England Telephone and Telegraph, which later became Verizon. At the end of her career, she was assistant manager.

Pauline was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Joe. They were married for 57 years prior to his passing in 2020. Together, they rarely missed one of their son Greg’s games. Her heart was fullest when sharing stories about, or in the company of, her four grandchildren and daughter-in-law.

Pauline was blessed with many wonderful friends. No matter the activity, she was always excited to join them, whether it was a shopping excursion or a delicious lunch out. They solved many of the world’s problems over a cup of hot coffee. In her youth, she loved the thrill of figure skating and the satisfaction of creating her own garments. As time went by, card games and volunteering kept her busy.

In addition to her active role in the Central High School Booster’s Club, Pauline found joy in volunteering at the school library, where she could assist students and staff while keeping her son and his friends in sight. She was a proud member of the Manchester Women’s Club and enjoyed the camaraderie at various meetings and events. At St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Pauline was a member of the Anagennesis Ladies Society and Daughters of Penelope.

Pauline is survived by her son Greg, his wife Sara, and their children Joe, Ellie, Zoie, and John of Lexington, MA. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Joe and her sister, Doris Madden.
