Arlanda “Pete” Rice, 62, of Manchester, NH passed away September 3, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Pensacola, FL on September 5, 1961, he was the son of Nathaniel McConnico and Bessie Mae (Lanier) Rice.
After graduating high school in Pensacola, he settled in NH playing for the Nashua Pirates. He played professional minor league baseball from 1980 until 1989 for the Pirates and Tigers organizations. After his baseball career ended, Pete worked in various sales roles until he started and operated his own trucking company until his retirement in 2023.
Pete loved to golf and was a longtime member of the Derryfield Country Club. He also played softball as a member of the Cardinal Builders, NH Steel Fabricators & Sam’s local teams.
He played in basketball leagues in both Manchester & Freddie (Florida) McNeil Jr. league in Boston.
He was predeceased by his father, sister, Dorothy McConnico, and brothers, Jerome McConnico, Willie James McConnico, Willie James Rice and Nathaniel McConnico Jr.
Family members include his loving wife, Dawn (Mahoney) Rice of Manchester; his sons, Cory and Trenton Rice; his mother, Bessie Mae Rice; sisters, Janie Salter, Carolyn (Robert) Stramos, Marilyn Johnson and Sharon McConnico; brothers, Tom (Mary) Rice, Larry Rice, Lonnie Lee Rice and Henry McConnico; several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, will be Tuesday, September 17th from 5 to 7 pm, followed by a brief memorial service in the funeral home chapel.
