Peter H. Dakoulas

November 10, 1927 — September 24, 2007

Peter H. Dakoulas Sr., 79, died September 24, 2007, at the Elliot Hospital surrounded by his wife, children, and other loved ones.

He was born in Manchester on November 10, 1927, the son of Athanasios and Katherine (Perestiri) Dakoulas. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Manchester High School Central. Peter also attended New England College in Henniker.

He served in the US Navy during both WWII and the Korean War.

Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Digital Equipment Corporation. He also had been employed by Rockingham Race Track in Salem for many years.

He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Peter is best known for his ever-pleasant, mild mannered demeanor. He was never known to say an unkind word about anyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to Frank Sinatra, watching the Red Sox, pro football, and playing cards and cribbage at the Coffee Shop. Nothing pleased him more than to be surrounded by his family. He asked for nothing and gave much. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (Poirier) Dakoulas of Manchester; seven children, Catherine Cowette, Christina Battistelli, Linda Johnson, Peter Dakoulas, Stephen Dakoulas, Cynthia Sheehan, and Roberta Dakoulas; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) George, Mrs. Gus (Mary) Koukos, and Mrs. Louis (Bessie) (Georgia) Nacos, all of Manchester; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Chris "Snaf" Dakoulas and James "Chilly" Dakoulas, and sisters Fannie Lambrou and Connie Lindh.

The funeral service was held Friday September 28, 2007 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St, Manchester. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
