Peter Gianareles, 98, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025. He was born to Soterios and Antigone Gianareles on November 14, 1926, in Peabody, Massachusetts and was a life-long resident of the city. After graduating from Peabody High School, he enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Providence during World War II. A proud Navy veteran, Peter served his country with honor and distinction before dedicating his life to his greatest passions - animals, the outdoors, and above all, his family.
A respected horse owner and trainer, Peter dedicated his early years in the horseracing industry, where his keen eye and deep understanding of the sport earned him admiration across the Country. Beyond the stables, he found joy in continuing his care for animals, especially his beloved dogs, and tending to his flourishing gardens, where he cultivated beauty and life with the same patience and devotion he showed in all things.
Though he loved his passions, Peter’s greatest joy came from time spent with his beloved wife of 52 years, Jackie, and his family. The love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren shined brightly. The time he spent with his best friend and devoted brother Nick was a highlight of each day. Whether gathered around the dinner table, taking walks on the beach, or simply sharing stories, he cherished every moment with his family. His wisdom, warmth, and unconditional love created lasting memories for his family that will be treasured forever.
Peter will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his love for his country, and the gentle and generous way he guided animals and people alike. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and a life well lived, and in his own words, with no regrets. Peter will be profoundly missed but will live on in those that knew him.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline (Broughton) Gianareles; daughter, Antigone (Gianareles) and her husband Thomas McHugh; grandson, Peter McHugh; granddaughter, Patrice Gianareles; great-grandchildren, Vincenzo, George, Giovanni; brother, Nicholas Gianareles his wife Judy Gianareles.
