Peter S. Miller, 66, of Manchester, NH died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born October 18, 1944 to Alfred H. and Jeanette S. Miller and grew up in the Ridgewood Park neighborhood of Waterford, Connecticut. He is a graduate of Waterford High School (1962) and the Culinary Institute of America (1964).

Peter will be deeply missed by his familye loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Madeleine "Maddy" (Jordan) Miller; brother Charles Miller and his wife, Dale, of Blandford, MA and family; sister Jean Bergamo and her husband, Peter, of East Lyme, CT and family; two sons, Jed, of Tinton Falls, NJ and Zachary, of Takoma Park, MD; and daughter-in-law Kelly of Silver Spring, MD. He also leaves behind countless friends from all over the country and beyond.

In 1965 he enlisted and served 3 years in the U.S. Navy as a cook where he sailed on the submarine USS Robert E. Lee and later on the destroyer USS Bigelow in the Gulf of Tonkin. Peter continued his culinary career at the Lake Placid Club in Lake Placid, NY, becoming Executive Chef in 1976.

Peter met Maddy in Lake Placid in 1971 and they married in 1972. In 1980 he became Executive Chef at Loon Mountain Club in Lincoln, NH. Later, he enjoyed teaching as a professional ski instructor earning his Associate PSIA certification. He also drove school bus for the Lin-Wood Public School District and delighted in telling stories of his daily adventures.

He was a faithful booster for his sons' activities and could be often found cheering from the stands and attending scouting outings. While living in the Lincoln/Woodstock, NH area, Peter once served as Mastor of Parker Masonic Lodge No. 97. He was also an active member of the Pemi Valley Church. In the Manchester area Peter most recently worked as the chef for the sisters at The Presentation of Mary in Hudson, NH.

Peter was an avid outdoorsman and shared his love of nature with family and friends on numerous fishing, hunting, and camping trips. He took great pride in his last "project"
