It is with great sadness that the family of Philip “Phil” O. Parenteau, 67, announces his passing at Catholic Medical Center on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Phil, a cherished member of the Manchester community, was born on May 24, 1956, in our beloved city. He was the son of Lucien and Lillian (Belisle) Parenteau. A proud graduate of Crotchet Mountain School for the Deaf, Phil later became proficient at lip reading and, over the years, developed a unique language with those closest to him.
Phil was a staunch New England sports fan. He seldom missed a hockey or basketball game. He enjoyed long walks throughout the Queen City, making countless friends along the way. Phil's passion for the weather and meteorology was well-known. However, he will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, fun-loving nature, and mischievous practical jokes that always brought smiles and laughter to his many nieces and nephews.
Philip will be profoundly missed by his mother, Lillian Parenteau of Manchester; his siblings, Yvette Barry and her husband Leward of Manchester; Paul Parenteau of Groveland, MA and his wife Christine who passed in 2020; Doris Child and her husband Fred of Manchester, Norman Parenteau, Donald Parenteau, both of Manchester; Theresa Kellett and her husband Tom of Auburn, Roger Parenteau and his wife, Donna of Dunbarton, Anita Remillard of Manchester, Rita Carney and her husband Tracy of Auburn and David Parenteau and his wife Amanda of Derry. Philip also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and one great-great niece.
Calling hours to remember and honor Philip will be held at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St. Manchester, on Tuesday, May 28, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial remembering Philip's life will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 S. Elm St. Manchester. Following the Mass, Philip will be laid to rest alongside his father, Lucien, at St. Augustin Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone who wishes to honor Philip’s memory please consider donating to the New Hampshire Association of the Deaf (https://nhadinc.org/) or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/) in Philips name.
