She was born in Manhattan on September 12, 1935, the daughter of George and Anna C. (Duffy) Goodman. She attended local parochial schools in Manhattan and graduated from Mother Cabrini High School.
Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the First National Bank in Manhattan (now Citicorp) for many years. She and her husband had resided in Lincroft, NJ for over 30 years prior to moving to the Bedford area.
Phoebe was a member of the Bedford Seniors' Club and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Davitt and Pricsilla White.
Members of her family include her husband of 47 years, Daniel G. Scanlon of Mashpee, MA; one daughter Kathleen Valickus and her husband John of Bedford; three grandchildren, Megan Valickus of Boston, Robert and Laura Valickus, both of Bedford; one sister, Phyllis McCarthy of Levittown, NY; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd. Bedford, on Monday December 10, 2007, with the Rev. Msgr. John Quinn officiating.
