Phyllis Rose Abbott, 85, of Bedford, NH, formerly of Whitman, MA died unexpectedly December 5th, 2016
Born in Boston on July 12, 1931, she was the daughter of Walter P. and Rose G. (O'Byrne) Abbott. She was a 1951 graduate of the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a registered nurse for many years, most recently at the Sisters of Holy Cross Health Care Center in Manchester, NH. Previously, she had worked as an RN for the Visiting Nurses Association in Whitman.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend who cherished time spent with family. Her faith was the foundation of her life and the source of her kind and generous nature. She had an infectious laugh, quick wit, feisty spirit and a true joie de vivre.
Family members include her sister, Elizabeth Eastman of Brockton, MA; many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Walter, Thomas, Virginia, and Dorothy.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Holy Ghost Church, 518 Washington St, Whitman, MA. Urn burial followed in St. James Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her memory to National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Jesuit Refugee Service.
