Phyllis D. Byrnes

Phyllis D. Byrnes, RNC, 60, of Manchester died June 3rd, 2011 at Hanover Hill Health Care Center after a year-long battle with cancer.

She was born in Manchester on May 31st, 1951, the daughter of Roland and Doris (Rouleau) Plourde. She attended St. Anthony Grammar School and graduated from Memorial High School in 1969.

She became a radiological technician and radiation therapist. After marriage, she earned her LPN licensure and then her bachelor's degree in education. She attended NH Technical College for her associate's degree in nursing and RN license. She was thinking of pursuing her master's degree and began classes in medical law. She became the first certified MDS coordinator in NH.

Most recently, she was assistant director of nursing at Hanover Hill Health Care Center. Phyllis was a shining example to many people, always willing to help selflessly. She had a life-long passion for caring for animals and took in many stray cats.

Her father predeceased her in 2009.

In addition to her mother, family members include her husband of 38 years John A. Byrnes of Manchester; her son, Robert Byrnes of Manchester; her brothers, Norman Plourde of Pembroke, Kenneth Plourde of Manchester, and David Plourde, his wife Carol and their son Cody, all of Rochester, NY; brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, June 9, 2011 in St. Anthony Church. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road.
