Priscilla S. "Sue" Hill

June 26, 1935 — August 3, 2022

Bedford

Priscilla “Sue” Hill, age 87, passed peacefully away while in the loving care of her family.  She was predeceased by her husband and best friend of 69 years, Collett V. “Cal” Hill, age 89.

Born during the Great Depression, Sue was the last, and youngest, of ten children.  When she was 13 months old,  her father died.  Times were hard in every Indiana coal-mining town, but especially so for widows.  While her mother worked long hours to support the family,  Sue’s older siblings did their best to provide extra love and attention.  Her school breaks were spent in Michigan, living with an older sister. During those summers, she developed a deep appreciation for the roots music of Detroit, broadcasts by pirate radio stations, gospel groups and the Grand Ole Opry.  In later years, she read books of every genre, played guitar, piano, bridge and Mahjong, attended bible study classes, watched all 37 seasons of Jeopardy and made the world’s best fudge.  Sue loved living in Bedford with Collett, raising her children, caring for her grandchildren and laughing with her friends. Throughout her final illness, her mind was sharp and her cheerful attitude undimmed.

Priscilla S. Hill is survived by her three children and their families:   Julie Roberge and husband Steve, Christopher Hill and wife Michele (Gagne) Hill, Denise McCarthy and husband Jeff. She was “Grams” to three grandsons, Dana Steele, Derek Steele, Brandon Hill and wife Britney, plus two great-grandchildren.

If you wish to honor Sue’s spirit of generosity, please offer an act of kindness or consideration to a friend or loved one.  On August 10, 2022, a private family service will be held at Lambert Funeral Home.
