R. David Springs, 88, of Manchester, NH died August 17, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Providence, RI on August 26, 1932, he was the son of James D. and Florence (Gilwee) Springs. He earned his photographic engineering and chemistry degrees from R.I.T. with graduate work at URI and Rutgers. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Prior to retirement, he had worked as a chemical engineer for numerous firms including Dupont, GAF, Sanders, where he served as principal chemist, and Superior Essex.

David was a man of extraordinary talent. He had many interests and spent his life pursuing his passions: history, photography, aviation, electronics and mechanics. His love of learning was only surpassed by his love for his family.

A longtime communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Manchester, he and his wife volunteered in various church organizations including the RCIA program and Eucharistic Ministry.

Family members include his wife of 59 years, Rita (Rainone) Springs of Manchester; his sons, Kurt D. Springs and Gary A. Springs and his wife, Katie; and his granddaughters, Alexi Marie and Julianna Nicole Springs.

Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, will be Sunday, August 29th from 4 to 6 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 30th at 11 am in St. Catherine Church, Manchester. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 207 Hemlock St, Manchester, NH 03104.
