Rachel Dery

She was born on May 23, 1911 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of the late Michael & Alice (Lemieux) Dery. She was brought up on the west side of Manchester where she lived for most of her life. Rachel worked many years for the J. F. McElwain shoe shop and also Chagnon's florist till it was sold by her lifelong friend, Cecile Proulx. In her later years she moved in with Cecile and her son, David Proulx. After Cecile passed away David has lovingly cared for Rachel up until she was unable to care for herself at the age of 95 and went into the Hillsborough County Nursing Home.

She enjoyed shopping and buying gifts and things for others. She had a heart of gold and was an artist at wrapping presents and everyone had one. Whether it was your birthday or not everyone got a surprise. She loved going to family gatherings and parties

Rachel was a life long communicant of "Ste. Jean the Baptist Church" now known as the Parish of Transfiguration. She had a great devotion to the Precious Blood Monastery & the Sisters there especially, Sister Mary Agnes.

Family members include her niece, Suzanne Booker and her husband James, four nephews, Jean Paul Poirier and his wife Vivian, James Poirier and his wife Susan, Ronald Dery and his wife Nancy and Norman Dery and his wife Joline.

She is also survived by her life long friends and caregivers, David Proulx, and Robert Gilbert.

She was predeceased by her brother, Jerome Dery, her sisters, Julliette Dery and Irene Dery a nephew, Richard "Red" Dery and by Yvette Schambier and long time friend Jacqueline Baron along with infant siblings that died at birth.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, December 10, 2012 in The Parish of the Transfiguration 107 Alsace Street, Manchester, NH. Committal services followed in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
