Manchester- Rachel L. Rollins, 85, died July 30, 2010, at Pearl Manor after a period of declining health

She was born in Franklin, March 24, 1925 to Charles E. and Nora A. (Routhier) Legare. She attended St. Mary's Grammar School and graduated from Franklin High School in 1943. Several years of employment at J.J. Newbury and Sulloway Mills followed. She graduated from Fisher College in Boston, Mass. in 1947 with a degree in Business Administration.

She married William B. Rollins on July 19, 1947 in Franklin. Following a brief period of employment at Graybar Electrical in Manchester, she devoted her life as a homemaker and mother to her two children.

The couple resided in Manchester, NH until 1980 when they moved to Bedford, NH. In 1992 she and her husband moved to Hillcrest Terrace in Manchester.

She was an avid candlepin bowler, winning many league trophies and tournaments. She was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena Women's Guild and a volunteer at Catholic Medical Center for many years. She loved animals, having many cats and dogs over her lifetime. At the time of her death, Rachel resided at Pearl Manor / Hillcrest Terrace in Manchester and was most recently a communicant of Saint Elizabeth Seton Church.

She was predeceased by her husband William B. Rollins in 1994.

She is survived by her children, Nancy L. Rollins of New London and W. Bruce Rollins of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; daughter-in-law Nancy E. (Doole) Rollins of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Webster Street, Manchester. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery, Webster Lake Road/Rte 11, Franklin, NH. Donations may be directed to Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, 545 Route 101, Bedford, 03110.
