Raymond E. Desmarais, 80, of Hooksett died September 23, 2001 in his residence. e

e Born in Sanford, ME on September 10, 1921, he was the son of Joseph and Adrianna (Beaucage) Desmarais.e He grew up in Manchester and later lived in Alton for 10 years.e He returned to Manchester in 1990 and moved to Hooksett in 1998. e

e During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Cabot.e In that time he was awarded the Victory Medal and was recognized for service in the Asiatic Pacific with four stars and the Philippine Liberation with two stars.

ee Mr. Desmarais worked at Quinn Freightlines for 27 years.e He was a member of the American Legion Claude R. Batchelder Post #72 in Alton, and the American Legion Post #79 in Manchester.e He was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local #633.

ee He was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa Rioux in 1964; a son, Robert A. Thibeault in 1997; and a granddaughter, Tanya R. Keith in 1981.

ee The family includes his wife, Emily (Sleeper) Desmarais of Manchester;e 9 sons, Paul L. Desmarais of Hooksett, Edward A. Desmarais of Suncook, David R. Desmarais of Florida, Armand E. Desmarais of Thomaston, ME, Roger E. Desmarais of Middleboro, MA, Roland W. Desmarais of Seaside, CA, Archie N. Thibeault Sr. of Alton, and Charles G. Desmarais and Richard A. Sleeper both of Manchester;e five daughters, Laura V. Johnson and Marie-Rose B. Keith both of Manchester, Theresa C. Phillips of North Dakota, Michelle Liedtke of Alton and Darlene B. Desmarais of Manchester; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Rita Berryman of Belchertown, MA; nieces and nephews.

ee A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, September 26th at 10 am. in St. Catherine Church Manchester.e Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Goffstown Rd., Manchester.

ee Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1850 Elm St., Manchester 03104.
