Raymond A. Dumas, 92, of Manchester died September 12, 2018 at the Veterans Association Medical Center surrounded by members of his loving family.
Born in Manchester on June 18, 1926, he was the son of Antoine and Angeline (Chandonnet) Dumas. He was educated in the local parochial school system and graduated from Manchester Central High School, class of 1943. After graduation, he served in the US Army during WWII. He later served in the Navy Reserves and NH Army National Guard.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the United States Postal Service for many years. He had started his long career with the USPS as a railway mailman.
Raymond enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially cruising. He was a member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeney Post #2, the Catholic War Veterans, the Knights of Columbus as well as the Legion of 1000 Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.
He and his wife had lived in both New Hampshire and Florida for the past 30 years.
Family members include his wife, Marceline (Latulippe) Dumas of Manchester; his children, Irene Dumas Maurier and husband Roger of Hooksett, Richard Dumas and wife Janet of Raleigh, NC, Ann Belair and husband Duane of Bedford, Diane Early and husband David of Newmarket, Elaine Smith and husband Sean of Manchester; his grandchildren, Zachary and Matthew Dumas, Joshua and Brandon Early, Christopher Belair, Abigail Smith. He was predeceased by his grandson, Stephen Maurier.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Holy Rosary Church, Hooksett. Interment will be in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, at a later date.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at the Meetinghouse for their compassionate care of Ray in his final months.
