Raymond Alfred Grimard, 99, of South Daytona, FL, formerly of Manchester died December 14, 2024, with his family by his side.
Born on July 1, 1925, in Manchester, he was the son of Donat and Elizabeth (Beaudet) Grimard. He was drafted out of high school in the fall of 1943 to serve in the US Army during WWII. He served in the 90th infantry division, was a D-Day and Battle of the Bulge veteran and Bronze Star recipient. He graduated from Manchester Central High School (class of 1947) after returning home from the war and earned his bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University in 1951.
Prior to retirement in 1986, Raymond had worked as an elementary school Physical Education teacher for the Manchester School District for 30 years.
He moved to Florida to live with his son in 1994 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Notre Dame Council #5163. He was also a member of the Battle of the Bulge Association.
He was predeceased by his wife, Muriel (Montplasir) Grimard in 1982.
Family members include his son, Raymond Grimard Jr. of South Daytona, FL, daughter in law Karen Grimard of South Daytona, Fl, brother Normand Grimard (deceased) and sister Pauline Therriault.
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, will be Thursday, December 19th from 6 to 8 pm.
A committal service with military honors will be held on Friday at 1 pm in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
