Raymond P. LeBlanc, 96, of Manchester, died October 28, 2016, at Mt. Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health.
He was born in Manchester on October 18, 1920, the son of Leo and Seraphine (Biron) LeBlanc. He was educated in the Manchester parochial schools and later served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Europe during World War II.
Ray worked at Marion Electric and Honeywell in Manchester. He and his brother Maurice owned and operated LeBlanc's Shoe Store on Amory St. for many years.
He was a communicant of the Parish of the Transfiguration.
Ray enjoyed an active life that included bowling, camping with family, going on road trips with his travel trailer, walking at the mall, playing cards, and refinishing old furniture.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline (Lamarre) LeBlanc, who died in 1973, and by his second wife, Violette (Dore Gill) LeBlanc, who died in 2006. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Dolores Stelmack; three siblings, Maurice LeBlanc, Constance LeBlanc, and Yvette Provencher; and by his good friend Yvonne Major.
He leaves three children, Denis LeBlanc and wife Denise of Acton, MA; Sylvia O'Rourke of South Riding, VA; and Diane Barriere and husband Joe of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Sylvio LeBlanc and wife Lucille of Manchester; a sister, Pauline Biggerstaff, of Florida; and 52 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Parish of the Transfiguration, 305 Kelley St., Manchester. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
