He was born in Manchester, October 21, 1933 to Harry and Marion (Descoteaux) Schmidt. He had been a resident of Hooksett for many years.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 and had been a member of the Hooksett Men's Club for many years.
Mr. Schmidt worked as an electrical contractor from 1978 to 2006 and was president and founder of Schmidt Electric.
His was passionate about his family, work and playing baseball. He also enjoyed gardening and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Elsie A. (Kosowicz) Schmidt of Hooksett; three children, Craig J. Schmidt and his wife, Patricia, of North Kingstown, R.I., Christine M. Gerrish and her husband, Steven, of Manchester and Kelly A. Mee and her husband, Kevin, of Rutland, VT; eight grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Gerrish, Conor, Daniel and Catherine Schmidt, K.C., Shannon and James Mee: a sister, Vena Saheed of Norton, MA; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester. Burial, with military honors, followed in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Bedford, NH
