Raymond J. Wieczorek

December 9, 1928 — November 22, 2022

Manchester, NH

Raymond J. Wieczorek, 93, of Manchester, died November 22, 2022 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief period of declining health.

He was born in New Britain, CT on December 9, 1928 to Stanley and Bertha (Sidor) Wieczorek.  He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Ray founded Wieczorek Insurance Agency in Manchester in 1964.  He was involved actively with many Manchester area non-profits and then served in local and state governments in many capacities, including Mayor of Manchester for five terms from 1990 to 2000 and then as an Executive Councilor for the State of NH for six terms from 2002 to 2012.

He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed attending and supporting many local and New England Sporting events. One of the things he thoroughly enjoyed was his assumed role of Mayor of Dunkin Donuts and the time he got to spend with his friends and companions solving or debating the issues of the day.

He was predeceased by his wives, Cathleen Connare and Susan Kramas and his brother, Edward Wieczorek.

Ray is survived by three children, Lee Anne McCarthy and her husband, Allen “Jay”, of Hampton Falls, Robert Wieczorek and his wife, Brenda Colton, of Bedford and James Wieczorek and his wife, Kate, of Malvern, PA; three step-children, David Connare and his wife, Jessica, of Manchester, Patricia Connare and her partner, Dan Chase, of Gilford, and Christen Bergeron and her husband, Matthew, of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Carolyn, Caitlin, Colleen, Reagan, Grace, Cole and Jack; a sister, Barbara Walewski of Stratford, CT and Ellen Connare of Manchester, and cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to recognize in particular the extremely kind and compassionate care provided by the nurses, doctors and staff of Catholic Medical Center as well as the many other care providers who had provided support over the last few years.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Sunday (11/27) from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (11/28) at 12 p.m. at St. Catherine Church, 267 Webster St., Manchester.  Committal prayers will follow at Mt.    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire, P.O. Box 3968, Manchester, NH 03105.  This is a non-profit that Ray convinced to come to Manchester in 1992 and he recently mentioned it as being one of his proudest accomplishments.
