Rev. Maurice R. Lacroix was called to his rest and to the glory of the Resurrection promised by the Lord on December 27, 2016. He was 92 years old.
He was born in Berlin on August 5, 1924 to Alphonse and Maria (Moreau) Lacroix.
Fr. Lacroix was ordained a priest on May 30, 1953 by the Most Reverend Matthew F. Brady, D.D., Fifth Bishop of Manchester, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester. He studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, PA and the Seminaire de Philosphaire in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He completed his ecclesiastical studies at St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, MD.
Fr. Lacroix was assigned as associate pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Laconia, St. Mary Parish in Claremont, Infant Jesus Parish in Nashua and St. George Parish in Manchester. He was later appointed as pastor by Bishop Ernest J. Primeau, D.D., S.T.D. of St. Benedict Parish in Cascade and St. Joseph Parish in Berlin where he served faithfully until his retirement in 1999.
During his retirement, he served as Chaplain to the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Manchester and was in residence there. In 2009, he retired from all ministry and resided at Bishop Peterson Residence until poor health required him to reside at Mt. Carmel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Manchester.
The family includes a brother, Robert Lacroix of Berlin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Vezina.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Joseph Cathedral, Manchester. The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester presided. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
