Richard was a firefighter with the Manchester Fire Department for 25 years, retiring in 2000 from Engine 10. During his retirement he continued serving as a court officer with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office.
Richard was an avid motorsports fan, who had driven race cars throughout New England winning many awards. He also enjoyed traveling to Disney World yearly with his family and had a passion for classic cars. Richard was also a founder of East Cost Auto Racers (Small Block Supers) and Cruisn' Times.
Members of his family include his wife of 38 years, Deborah (Sullivan) Crotty of Manchester; two children, Richard C. Crotty and his wife, Laurie, of Hanscom AFB, MA, Justin Crotty and his wife, Sirena, of Manchester; two grandchildren, Madilyn and Evan; brother Dennis Crotty, sisters Mary Webster and Patricia Scarlett, all of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. Catherine Church. Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Fire Prevention Bureau, Care of Manchester Fire Department, 100 Merrimack St, Manchester, NH 03101.
