Richard L. DeSchuiteneer, 72, of Manchester, died March 1, 2007, at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Center in Salem, MA, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Manchester, September 5, 1934 and was the son of Benjamin F. and Donalda (Demers) DeSchuiteneer. He was a lifelong resident of this city.

Mr. DeSchuiteneer served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Hornet.

He was a member of the Manchester Fire Dept. for several years. He later worked in construction, Therrien Roofing Co., and as a dispatcher for Radio Cabs and Hudson Bus Lines.

He was a member and former State Commander of the Disabled American Veterans. He also served as Commander for various D.A.V. chapters in the state.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Scott DeSchuiteneer in 1993, and by a granddaughter, Tammy Lacourse in 1991.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Donahue) DeSchuiteneer, of Manchester; five children, Colleen Randall, Gary DeSchuiteneer, both of Manchester, Guy DeSchuiteneer, of Goffstown, Brian DeSchuiteneer, of Chester, and Stacy Goodale, of Manchester; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth A. DeSchuiteneer, of Manchester; a sister, Shirley Fuller, of Manchester; many nieces and nephews.

A committal service was held Tuesday March 6, 2007 at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. After cremation encryptment followed in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
