Richard E. Powers, 72, of Manchester, died May 22, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Manchester on October 8, 1945, the son of Edward O. and Margaret R. (Howe) Powers. Richard was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School, and earned his BA from Boston College. For the last fifteen years of his life, he was the dedicated Assistant Athletic Director of the Trinity Pioneers and a much loved member of the Trinity High School family.
Richard was an exceptional athlete. He loved sports, especially football. He enjoyed tailgating and had a passion for the game of golf. He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. Richard was a very social person who had many friends. He was very personable, kind and generous. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Richard was predeceased by his son, Michael Powers in 1995.
Family includes his wife of 30 years, Sandra S. (Subilia) Powers of Manchester; four children, Christine Butler and husband Michael of Manchester, Rick Brothers of Plymouth, Kevin Brothers and wife Caryn of Bedford, and Melissa Scagliarini and husband Matthew of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Landon Brothers, Isabella Brothers, Emma Butler, Drew Brothers, Lucian Scagliarini, and Rowan Scagliarini; one sister, Charlene Mains of Northwood; one brother, Kevin Powers and wife Christine of Manchester; several nieces and nephews; and his previous wife, Elaine Paradis Powers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed in the chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
