Bedford, New Hampshire – Richard John Frank went to sleep on November 18, 2025, after a long illness, with his loving wife, Rose Frank, by his side in their home. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bertha Frank.
Richard was born on November 23, 1944, in New York, where he grew up with his sister, Linda Frank, and brother, Michael Frank. His sense of humor showed itself early and never left him. As children, the three siblings shared household chores. One day, while Linda washed dishes and Richard dried, she noticed the same plates appearing again and again. Eventually she discovered that Richard was slipping the clean plates back into the soapy water – a mischievous joke that perfectly captured his lifelong love of making others laugh.
Early in his life, Richard taught at Katahdin High School in Patten, Maine. He worked with high school students and offered patience, dignity and encouragement to those who needed additional academic support. His time as a teacher reflected his caring nature and willingness to help others succeed.
After teaching, Richard transitioned into a long and respected career in finance. He first worked in a financial role at Potato Service in Presque Isle, Maine, before moving on to Barber Foods in Portland, Maine, where he served for many years as Vice President of Finance. He later continued his work in financial leadership at Silvex in Westbrook, Maine.
Most people who knew Richard remember him as a kind, generous man who would go out of his way to help others. He was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and was known for his commitment to the ministry and to supporting those around him. His faith was a steady, guiding presence throughout his life, and he deeply valued the friendships and sense of community it brought him.
Richard is survived by his four sons: Richard (Rick) Frank, Reid Frank, Rob Frank and Dean Frank. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Meghan Boucher, Kelsey Soucy and Cody Frank, who lovingly remember him for his humor and gentle presence.
Richard’s warmth, humor, dedication and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
As a source of comfort and hope, the family reflects on Jesus’ promise: “The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” – John 5:28, 29
Tribute to My Brother-in-Law Rich: A Cherished Friend and Guiding Light
More Than Family: A True Brother My brother-in-law was more than just a relative; he was truly like a brother to me. Although our conversations only began in earnest over the last four years, the connection we built felt as if it had been growing for a lifetime. The trust and understanding between us gave our bond a special depth, and I cherished every moment we spent talking, sharing and learning from one another.
Daily Conversations and Shared Passions We spoke every day, exchanging thoughts on music, reminiscing about old shows, and delving into matters of religion. These daily talks were the highlight of my day, bringing warmth, laughter and insight into my life. Our discussions never ran dry and each conversation left me feeling heard and valued.
Straightforward Counselor and Source of Peace When it came to counseling me, my brother-in-law was a no-nonsense type of person. His advice was direct and honest, never sugar-coated, and I respected him greatly for this approach. He helped me see things clearly and challenged me to grow, bringing clarity and peace into my life even during the toughest times. His guidance was rooted in compassion and truth, making my life better and more peaceful.
Missing Our Talks I miss our conversations deeply. Four years of daily exchanges have left a lasting imprint on my heart, and the absence of his steady wisdom is hard to bear. Yet, the lessons he shared and the friendship he offered continue to inspire me every day.
A Lasting Legacy My brother-in-law’s impact on my life is immeasurable. I am grateful for the time we spent together and the strong bond we shared. Though our years of conversation were brief, the spirit, honesty, and peace he brought into my life will remain with me always. He will never be forgotten, and always be top shelf.
