Richard D. Gaumont, 86, of Allenstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 following a long period of declining health.
Born in Concord, NH on January 13, 1940, he was the son of Rosario and Beatrice (Viens) Gaumont. Richard received an honorable discharge from the US Army in 1965.
Prior to his retirement in June 2019, he had been employed by MRF (Materials Research Furnaces) in Allenstown for 24 years. Previously, he had worked for Centorr Associates also of Allenstown.
Richard will be remembered for working in his younger years with his uncle Mike Chroniak at the Jenney Station located across the street from St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown. He always had fond memories of the customers he met there. He loved hearing the customers talk about their war time stories.
At one point in his life, he had served as the Deputy Fire Chief with the Allenstown Fire Department.
Richard loved to spend time on the seacoast with his wife Claire. Especially in Ogunquit, ME, which they considered their most favorite place in the whole world. They particularly enjoyed romantic walks along the Marginal Way. Both he and his wife loved to host theme dinners for family and friends. The two were just sixteen days away from celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
His family members include his wife of 60 years, Claire (Labrie) Gaumont, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Arthur T. Gaumont of Allenstown; his sister Yvette T. Gaumont of Harwich, MA, his sister Jeannine Hebert of Allenstown, and his brother-in-law Adelard “Del” Hebert.
