Richard Gunzelman

December 30, 1939 — July 31, 2010

Richard Gunzelman, 70, of Manchester died July 31, 2010 at the Elliot Hospital after a period of declining health.

He was born in Niagra Falls, NY on December 30, 1939, the son of Wilbur and Pauline (Slish) Gunzelman. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from Niagra Falls High School. After moving to New Hampshire, he attended the NH Vocational Technical College.

After graduation from high school, he served in the US Air Force.

Richard was a talented manufacturing engineer. He applied his ingenuity and problem solving abilities for several New Hampshire companies until poor health caused early retirement.

He loved animals, photography, motorcycling, and piloting small air craft.

Family members include his wife of 33 years, Margaret (Peg Gallant) Gunzelman of Manchester; two daughters, Paula Mundier of Town of Wheatfield, NY and Patricia Chowning of Niagra Falls; two sons, Richard McClure of Lockport, NY and Roger McClure of Salem, NH; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Pamela O'Brien and brothers Bill and Kenneth Gunzelman.

A funeral service was held Saturday, August 7, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Urn burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH 03102 or to the Animal Rescue League, 545 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110.
