Richard Leary

November 21, 1928 — March 9, 2008

Richard Leary, 79, of Bedford, NH died March 9th, 2008 at the Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Manchester on November 21, 1928, the son of Joseph and Helen (Moran) Leary. He was educated in the local school system, graduated from St. Joseph's High School and attended St. Anselm College and the University of New Hampshire.

He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Prior to retirement, he had been the Director of Contributions for the State of NH Department of Employment Security.

Mr. Leary was an excellent athlete who played football at St. Joseph's and UNH and played baseball in the American Legion Division. He was also an accomplished pianist.

His family includes his wife of 54 years Elise (Borroto) Leary; a daughter, Catherine Roberts of San Diego, CA; a son, Jack Leary of Pembroke, NH; a brother, Robert J. Leary, of Manchester; a sister, Mary Jane Moriarty of Portland, ME; two grandsons, Kristopher Trocki and Matthew Roberts; one granddaughter, Kathryn Roberts; one great grandson, Eli Cash Roberts and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service and celebration of his life and musical accomplishments were held by his family and dear friends.

Committal prayers and urn burial took place at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscowen.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Unit at the Elliot Hospital, 1 Elliot Way, Manchester, NH, 03103.
