Richard B. Pingree

July 25, 1941 — May 28, 2022

Hooksett, NH

Richard ‘Dick’ B. Pingree, 80, of Hooksett, died peacefully at his home on May 28, 2022 after a valiant struggle against chronic illnesses.

He was born in Manchester, on July 25, 1941, to Richard H. and Bernice I. (Bartlett)

Pingree.  He grew up in Manchester and then the family moved to Salem, where Dick graduated from Woodbury High School in 1959. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1963. At UNH, he belonged to the Theta Chi fraternity.

Following graduation, Dick served as a lieutenant in the United States Army at Fort Lewis in Washington State.

After his marriage, he lived in Natick, MA for 37 years before moving to Hooksett in 2007. In Hooksett, he was highly involved in community life at Brookridge and was a former member of the Pembroke Pines Country Club, where he was proud to once score a hole-in-one.

Dick retired after 25 years as a service technician at Waltham Services in Waltham, MA, which later became Waltham Services. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved college football. Accompanied by family members and friends, he enjoyed watching UNH play in Durham and once against Army at West Point. He was considered a “walking encyclopedia” of sports knowledge.

A devoted family man, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arline (Buote) Pingree of Hooksett; a son, Bill Pingree and his wife, Christine, of Londonderry; three grandchildren, Skyler, Summer and Timothy; a brother, Robert Pingree and his wife, Kathryn Ford, of Concord; a brother-in-law, Bill Buote and his wife, Patty, of Bellingham, MA; three nieces and three nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at the Manchester Kidney Center for the compassionate care they provided to Dick over many years.
