Richard Paul Rene, 85, of Manchester died February 16, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on July 12, 1932, he was one of twelve children born to Hormidas R. and Marie-anna (Champagne) Rene. He was educated in the local school system.
He had served as a tank gunner for the US Army during the Korean War.
Prior to retirement, he had been an assembler for Evangeline Shoe Company for many years. Previously, he had also worked to Dorson-Fleischer Shoe Company in Manchester.
Richard enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with his family. He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5163. He had served in many capacities within the organization including district deputy for 5 years, navigator and controller. He was also a member of the League of One Thousand Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.
He was predeceased by his wife Fernande R. (Dumas) Rene in 2011.
Family members include his nephews and nieces, Donald Poulin and his late wife Kathy of Manchester, Richard Poulin and wife Carol of Hooksett, Robert Poulin of Hooksett, Robin Proulx and late husband Roland of Manchester, Mark Rene of Northfield, Kelly Rene of Northfield, Steven Rene of Michigan, Gregory Belanger and wife Christine of Charlotte, NC, Danielle Rooney and husband Shawn of CT, Nicole Belanger of Chicago, Carol (Fournier) Gagnon and husband Yvon of Manchester, Penny Chauvette and husband Ray of Litchfield, Denis Fournier and wife Lucy of Hooksett, Denise Fournier of Manchester; many great nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Sacred Heart Church, Manchester. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
