Richard J. Riel, 69, of Manchester, died January 6, 2007, in a local health care facility, after a long illness.
He was born in Manchester, January 15, 1938, and was the son of Victor and Yvette(Turgeon) Riel.
Richard was a graduate of Central High School class of 1956. Following graduation he joined the United States Navy, and in 1957 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, completing his tour in 1962. He held several jobs throughout his working career retiring in 1983 from the former Carol Cable.
He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans holding membership in the DAV #1 of Manchester, and the DAV #26 in Goffstown. Richard was also a member of the Honor Guard in the Manchester DAV. Richard loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and long walks in the woods.
Family members include his wife of 44 years, Lorraine (Desrosiers) Riel, of Manchester; a daughter, Tina Rogers, of Weare; a son Lawrence Riel, of Weare; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jo Anne O'Leary, Doris Proulx, both of Manchester; 2 brothers, Robert Riel, of Glenn, Roland Riel, of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated, Tuesday January 9, 2007 in St. Joseph Cathedral Chapel, Lowell St. Manchester.
