Richard W. Tanguay, 84, of Manchester, died January 5, 2019, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on January 29, 1934, he was the son of Ernest A. and Aurore M. (Gagnon) Tanguay, Sr. He was educated in Manchester, attended Central High School, and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. Richard served in the National Guard for 9 years and worked various jobs during his lifetime. He worked for the City of Manchester for 12 years and then as a courier for Bank of NH for 19 years before retiring in 2008.
Richard was a very funny and lighthearted man who loved to tell jokes. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach, but his true passion was his family. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Family includes his beloved wife of 49 years, Louise J. (D'Amour) Tanguay of Manchester; seven children, Diane (Mike) Leavitt of Hollis, Denise (Mark) Dingman of Lunenburg, VT, Susan (Scott) Blevins of Manchester, Debra (Richard) Winslow of Milford, Patty Vaillancourt of Manchester, David Boufford of Cathedral City, CA, and Debbie (Jay) Wilson of Costa Mesa, CA; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; six siblings, Lorraine Bellemore of Merrimack, Gerard, Donald and Normand Tanguay of Manchester, Simonne Simard of Londonderry, and Vivian Blondeau of Goffstown. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by both parents; his infant daughter Rose Marie Tanguay; and four siblings, Susan Clinton, Ernest, Jr., Roger and Russell Tanguay.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, NH 03110. Committal prayers followed in the chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford, NH 03110.
