She was born in Nashua, NH on April 7, 1930, the daughter of Willie William and Aurore (Beauchamp) Doyon. She was educated in the Manchester parochial school system and was a graduate of St. Anthony High School. She had been a Manchester resident for most of her life prior to moving to Hooksett four years ago.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed by the Manchester Police Department for many years.
Since retirement, Rita was active at the Manchester Senior Center and volunteered delivering for Catholic Charities Meals On Wheels program. She loved to travel and was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
Members of her family include her husband of 56 years, Raymond E. Demers of Hooksett; one son, Marc R. Demers of Hooksett; one sister, Lillian Duval of Manchester; four nieces, Denise Southmayd, Joyce Franco, Patricia Bailey, and Karen Gross; great nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Pauline Gilmour.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday May 14, 2007 in the Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley St. and Alsace St. Urn burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd, Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942.
