Born in Manchester on September 14, 1923, she was the daughter of Henry and Aurore (Gendron) Perkins. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School for Girls and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
She was predeceased by her husband, the former Chief Training Officer of the Manchester Fire Department, James J. King in 1972, and by a sister, Doris Cote earlier this year.
The family includes four children, Margie Ziemba of Hampton, James King of Manchester, Maureen Simard of Londonderry and Michael King of Manchester; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother, Henry Perkins of Auburn; a sister, Ruth Luiz of Manchester; cousins, nieces and nephews.
IN HER LIFE: The family also includes a special granddaughter, Melissa King. Rita was a special mother who devoted her life to her children. She was the most independent lady and would walk for miles and miles each day.
SERVICES: Calling hours were held Monday April 7, 2008 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. Committal prayers followed in the Shaw Chapel of St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
