Rita D. Marchand, 92, of Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Elliot Hospital. Rita was born on November 22, 1932, the 11th of 12 children, daughter of the late Albert and Aurore (Boisvert) Leclerc.
Mrs. Marchand was a graduate of Ste. Marie High School, class of 1951. She was a parishioner of Ste. Marie until her wedding there to Roland A. Marchand in June 1959. They moved to Nashua and in 1963 bought a house in Hudson, where they resided until returning to Manchester in 2004.
While single, Mrs. Marchand was employed at Manchester Hosiery, Buskens Inc., and Brookshire Knitting. After moving to Nashua and Hudson from 1959-1964, she worked full time doing office work at Nashua Plastics and Nashua Corp. After having her three children, she returned to work part-time at The Olde Coach Inn, The American Inn and The Sharaton Tara Hotel in Nashua waitressing from 1968 until she retired in 1996.
Her hobbies included camping, traveling, genealogy, cake decorating and art work. She did props for Nashua Actorsingers and Rosita Lee Music Centers. She enjoyed entertaining her friends and relatives and planned special celebrations for her children and grandchildren.
While in Nashua, Mrs. Marchand was a communicant of Infant Jesus Christ. In Hudson, she was a Eucharistic Minister for St. John the Evangelist and St. Kathryn Churches and belonged to four prayer groups. She was also involved in numerous Marian projects. Mrs. Marchand was a Lay Carmelite for over 17 years. After returning to Manchester, she became a daily communicant of St. Pius X Church and joined the Consolers of the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Women of Mary and the Ladies Guild.
Rita is survived by her son: Michael and his wife Michele Marchand of Bedford; one daughter: Anne-Marie Marchand of Nashua; 8 grandchildren: Mitchell, Myles, Max and Mia Marchand, Tricia Sample, Trena Metzger, Brandon Naylor, Dylan Bishop; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband: Roland A. Marchand; her son: Paul Marchand; and her 11 siblings.
Services and burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Masses may be celebrated for the repose of her soul at a Catholic church of your choice.
