Rita D. (Jutras) Murphy, 77, of Manchester died July 24, 2003, at CMC after a brief illness.
Born on January 14, 1926, she was the daughter of Arthur and Regina (Laforest) Jutras.
Mrs. Murphy resided in Lowell in her early years, and had lived in Shrewsbury for 28 years. She has lived in Manchester for the past five years.
She was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1944.Mrs Murphy worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard, the VA Hospital in Bedford MA, and for the Social Security Adminstration , retiring in 1986.
She was a volunteer at Catholic Medical Center, and the Presentation of Mary, St. Joseph's Nursing Home. She was an active member of the Young Christians Workers movement, and had recently joined the Catholic Veterans Auxiliary Post of the Parish of the Transfiguration.
Family members include, her husband of 32 years, George Murphy, of Manchester; 3 sisters, Beatrice Lague, of Lowell MA, Violet Ogiba, of Dracut MA, Therese Dastous of Chester NH; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday July 28, 2003 in The Parish of the Transfiguration St. John,107 Alsace St. Manchester.Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Riverneck Road, East Chelmsford, MA.
