Robert A. "Robbie" Young, Jr.

May 4, 1970 — January 20, 2025

Robert A. “Robbie” Young, Jr., 54, of Manchester, passed away on January 20th, 2025.

Born in Manchester on May 4th, 1970, he was the son of Kathleen C. (Joyce) Shepherd and Robert A. Young, Sr. He was educated in Manchester, a graduate of Central High School Class of 1988, and a lifelong resident of The Queen City, which he loved. He was recently employed as a counselor at the Sununu Youth Services Center, and worked in real estate for many years.

Robbie was one of a kind, with a larger than life personality. He had a passion for music, and one of his most cherished hobbies was attending Phish shows with his daughter Allyson. He was also a fan of the Grateful Dead and Radiohead, and he religiously supported his favorite local band, Lichen. In his youth, Robbie was an incredible basketball player and break dancer, going by the name “Tiny Tic”. He had a love for all sports, but he particularly enjoyed watching football and held season tickets to the Patriots in his younger years. More recently, Robbie enjoyed going on adventures with his youngest daughter Tatum, lounging on the beach or at the lake, and traveling whenever possible.

Robbie was a proud resident of the city of Manchester and spent many hours researching the city’s history. He could often be spotted on his daily “power walks” around the city and through local cemeteries, gaining history about his heritage. Robbie had an abundant circle of friends, and could make friends anywhere he went. He was a great story teller with an unparalleled ability to make people laugh. He could find positivity and humor in any situation. There was absolutely nothing in this world more important to Robbie than his girls and his family. Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving and dedicated father, brother, uncle and friend. This world has lost one of the great ones far too soon.

Robbie’s family includes his three daughters, Kaitlyn A. Stephen of North Carolina, Allyson E. Young and her significant other, Sam Tassey, of Manchester and Tatum S. Young of Manchester; his father, Robert A. Young, Sr. of Florida; his sister, Heidi E. Sprague of Manchester; his nephew, Jack M. Sprague of Manchester; his cat Jerry; and his close friends, who he considered family. He was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen C. Shepherd in 2021.
