Robert S. Bernier, 74, of Manchester died on February25, 2002 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Manchester, on July 7, 1927; he was the son of Louis and Nancy (Nadeau) Bernier.
Mr. Bernier was a meat cutter for the Nashua Beef Company for over 25 years.
Bob, served his country both in World War Two and the Korean conflict.
Mr. Bernier was a co-organizer of the annual Massabesic Christmas Tree Lighting Service.
Mr. Bernier was a member of the Post 79 and was the co-founder of their turkey shoot.
He spent the summer months following his beloved Red Sox.Bob was a charter member of the Massabesic Traffic Circle's coffee club.
The most important thing in Bob's life was the love of his family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Family members include his wife of 40 years Dorothy (Bournival) Bernier; 5 sons Michael Bernier, of Manchester, Daniel Bernier of Auburn, Richard Bernier of Manchester, Roger Bernier of Manchester, and Gary Bernier of Auburn; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Aline Paquin of Goffstown, and Camille Bernier of Manchester, a brother Marcel Bernier of Manchester; several nieces nephews and cousins.
At the request of the family flowers are to be omitted. They have asked instead that donations be made to the Youngsville Athletic Association, 25 Maverick Drive, Auburn NH. 03032.
There were no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated March 1, 2002 in St. Peter's Church 567 Manchester Rd. Auburn.
A committal service followed in the Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
Following cremation burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
Lambert Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
