Robert A. Butkus

Robert A. Butkus, 50, of Manchester, died July 10, 2012 at Elliot Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born in Gardner, MA on January 9, 1962 to Anthony and Martha (Anderson) Butkus. He was a graduate of Central High School in 1981 and lived in Manchester for most of his life.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1985. He later worked for CLS Trucking Company for many years.

Robert was a baseball coach at Manchester South Little League and a football coach for Manchester South Sabres. He was a very active Dad, following his daughter's cheerleading competitions all over the U.S. He was also an advocate of many sports and especially enjoyed Boston College and the University of Oregon football and basketball.

He was very involved with his children's activities. He also enjoyed time spent with his friends from Mantown.

The family includes two children, Ashley L. Butkus and Matthew R. Butkus both of Manchester; his mother, Martha (Anderson) Butkus of Meredith; two brothers, Jack Anderson and David Butkus both of Manchester; a nephew, Adam Butkus of Florida; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm St., Manchester. Rev. Dawn Berry officiated.
