Robert M. Chandonnais, 77, of Hooksett, NH died September 16, 2012 at Catholic Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Born in Manchester on June 11, 1935 to Arthur and Elizabeth (Douville) Chandonnais, he grew up in Pinardville and called Hooksett his home since 1973.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force as Airman First Class from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1961.

Mr. Chandonnais retired in 2004 after 37 years as a skilled heavy equipment operator with Harvey Construction Company and Manchester Sand & Gravel. During his career, he was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 98.

Robert was a devout Catholic who served St. Catherine Church as a communicant and Eucharistic Minister. As a member of the Bereavement Committee, his dedicated service comforted countless families.

He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Order 1569. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed his regular workouts at the Executive Court Club. Most of all, Robert was happiest when his family was around him.

He will be missed by a loving family including his wife of 53 years, Anne Marie (Rousseau) Chandonnais of Hooksett; three children, David Chandonnais of Candia, Dorianne Sommer of Manchester and Patricia Reedy of N. Chelmsford, MA; four grandsons, Kevin Sommer, Brad Sommer, Jeffrey Chandonnais and Brandon Reedy, a sister, Claire Kostyshock along with nieces, nephews, and extended family in the greater St. Louis, MO. region.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, September 21, 2012 at St. Catherine Church, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
