Robert E. Cloutier, OFS, 93, of Manchester NH, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born on December 1, 1932 in Lancaster NH, and spent much of his life in Manchester NH, where he built a life centered in God and a dedication to his family. Robert was a man of great character with a pronounced sense of humor; enough to make others laugh while also triggering his own echoing, joyful and contagious laugh. He cherished the simple things: a good meal followed by a hot cup of coffee and ginger snaps, meaningful conversation, and the warmth of loved ones around him. When Robert loved someone or something, it was with profound depth and passion. Things that would instantly light up his face with joy included his Lord, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, Chinese food, Golden Corral, and a good plate of seafood. In addition to his love for a good jelly stick from Dunkin’ Donuts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Cloutier, his mother Roseanna (Buteau) Cloutier and his wife of 56 years, who he adored, Rose Marie Pope Cloutier, their two sons: Thomas E. L. Cloutier and John R. A. Cloutier. He leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Christy of Wilmington, NC, three grandchildren: Joshua and his wife Emily, Tiffany, Christian and his wife Cassie, also of Wilmington, NC and two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Remi.
Robert leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and celebrated by the ones that knew him and carried on for generations. Robert was a humble but quietly proud man. He was proud of his Catholic faith, his family, his accomplishments in the U.S Army and in his professional career. Robert was professed in 1996 as a secular Franciscan and he served the Catholic Church as lecturer for years.
Robert had a larger than life presence and the impact of his life weighs heavy on this earth while his soul rests in heaven.
