He was born in Manchester, August 12, 1918 and was the son of Joseph and Angeline (Sevigny) Compagna. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Mr. Compagna served in the US Army during World War II and also in the Army reserves until 1978.
Prior to retirement he worked as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Co. for 30 years.
He performed with numerous choirs in the area as a soloist and as a director. He had been the choir director at the former St. Jean Baptiste Church for many years. He was currently a communicant of Parish of the Transfiguration where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery, and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Ghislaine (Gamache) Compagna of Manchester, two sons, Donald F. Compagna and his wife, Diane, and Roger J. Compagna and his wife, Connie, both of Manchester; a daughter, Gisele McCall and her husband, James, of Bedford; six grandchildren, Christine (Compagna) Bermudez, Renee Compagna, Aaron Compagna, Meagan, Ryan, and Nolan McCall; 5 sisters, Anita Staples, Estelle Tessier, both of Manchester, Aurore Walsh of Florida, Irene Egan of Manchester and Cecile Sullivan of Bedford; three brothers, Raoul Compagna of Hooksett, NH, Andre Compagna of York, ME and Marcel Compagna of Merrimack, NH; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three children, Denise, Paul and Guy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Parish of the Transfiguration. Committal prayers followed in Mount Calvary Mausoleum.
