Robert J. Couture died September 16, 2006 at the Catholic Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born in Rochester, NH on August 26, 1937, the son of Albert and Beatrice (Nadeau) Couture Sr., both of Somersworth, NH.
He graduated from St. Martin Parochial School, class of 1951 and from Somersworth High School, class of 1955. After high school, he attended St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, CT, St. Francis College in Biddeford, Maine, Sherbrook Seminary in Sherbrook, Canada, before graduating from Commerical College in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Vietnam Era from 1962 to 1965.
He was employed at AIG for 25 years as a programmer -production specialist.
He was also employed as a CNA at the V.A. Medical Center Nursing Facility in Manchester.
He was active in youth hockey and served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Manchester.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Marian Council 5748 and a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery.
Members of his family include his wife Helene (Samson) Couture of Manchester; two sons, Roland Couture of Manchester, and George Couture of Parker, CO; one brother, Albert Couture Jr. of Somersworth, NH; two sisters, Lillian Couture Dube of Rochester and Bernadette Couture Dubois of Somersworth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, corner of Webster St. and Hemlock St, Manchester on Thursday September 21, 2006. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Knights of Columbus Marian Council 5748, 207 Hemlock St, Manchester, NH 03104 or to the charity of one's choice.
