He was born in Manchester on June 28, 1951, the son of Rene and Flore (Cournoyer) Fortin. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School.
Prior to his illness, he had most recently been employed by Johnson Control.
He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family around the campfire. He also enjoyed reading and playing golf.
Members of his family include his wife of 33 years, Diana (Carrier) Fortin of Manchester; one daughter, Renee T. Fortin of Manchester; one son, Christopher R. Fortin of Manchester; his mother, Flore Fortin of Manchester; three brothers, Denis P. Fortin of Weare, Guy B. Fortin of Goffstown, and Normand G. Fortin of Manchester; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, So. Elm St, on Saturday December 15, 2007 After cremation, urn burial was in St. Augustin Cemetery at a later date.
