He was born in Lewiston, ME on September 24, 1932, the son of Harold C. and Lucretia H. (Bonney) Hamilton. He was educated at Gould Academy in Bethel, ME and attended Bowdoin College prior to earning his bachelor's degree from Babson College.
Most recently, he had been employed by Books Are Fun in Concord where he became known as "The Bookman". Previously, he had spent many years working in the wire industry.
Bob was a voracious reader who also enjoyed golfing, boating and was a true sports fanatic, always supporting his New England teams. Above all else, he loved and cherished the time he spent with his family and many friends.
Family members include his children, Robert and his wife Jill Hamilton of Easton, PA, Peter and his wife Kimberly Hamilton of Ellicott City, MD, Deborah Hamilton and her husband John Novak of Towson, MD, Marcia and her husband John True of Mt. Airy, MD, Michele and her husband Kerry McCoole of Bedford, NH, Lynda and her husband Christopher King of Concord, MA, and Michael and his wife Michele MacKenzie of Worcester, MA; his father, Harold C. "Ted" Hamilton of South Paris, ME; seventeen grandchildren; one special cousin, Sally Day of South Paris, ME; and three friends who Bob considered extended family, Jeffrey Pike, William Lamotte Jr., and Charles Bovina.
A memorial service was held at Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester on Saturday, February 27, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested book donations in his memory to your local library.
