Robert F. Harris, 77, of Manchester, died January 7, 2006 at a local healthcare facility after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester on April 18, 1928, the son of E. A. "Sam" Harris and Jane (Burke) Harris. He was educated in the local school system.

He served in the US Navy. Prior to retirement in 1988, he had been employed by Colesman Industries.

Mr. Harris was a former member of the Derryfield Country Club and loved spending winters with his wife at Melbourne Beach, Florida. He was a member of the Legion of One Thousand Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.

Members of his family include his wife of 43 years, Cecile (Thomas) Harris of Manchester; two sons, Michael M. Harris of Manchester and Brian R. Harris of Goffstown; a daughter, Susan M. Palmer of Manchester; a brother, William Harris of Manchester; nephews, nieces, and cousins. He also leaves six grandchildren, Matthew Misiaszek, Tyler Palmer, Emily A. Harris, Molly E. Harris, Samuel Harris, and Liam Harris.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Pius X Church on Thursday January 12, 2006 Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Precious Blood Monastery, 700 Bridge St, Manchester, NH, 03104.
