Robert J. Mullen “Bob,” 81, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on August 9, 1944, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to the late David and Christine (McDermott) Mullen. He attended Lawrence High School and later earned a master’s degree in education from Salem State University.

Bob dedicated 37 years to a career in education at West High School while also operating his house painting business during the summer months. He enjoyed basketball, golfing, spending time at the lake, and cheering on Duke Basketball and Boston sports teams. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family and grandchildren.

Bob will be remembered for his kindness, humor, devotion to family, and the lasting impact he had on all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Mullen; his two children, Bj Hurley and her husband John, and Bob Mullen and his wife Kerry; his brother, David Mullen; his six grandsons, Quinn, Aidan, and Conor Hurley, Wyatt and Sawyer Mullen, and Kyle Bobola; his sister-in-law, Kathryn Schricker; his niece, Katy Nadeau-Meagher; and his nephew, Gregory Nadeau. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Helene Nadeau.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm Street, Manchester, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 567 Manchester Road, Auburn. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at a later date.
