Robert A. Lessard, 78, of Nashua died July 4, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua after a long illness.
Born in Manchester on July 11, 1924, he was the son of Eugene and Alice (Dallaire) Lessard. He lived in Manchester many years before moving to Nashua 25 years ago.
He was educated in Manchester at parochial schools. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the campaign of Burma and was decorated by the governments of the US and China.
After the war he graduated from the Neon School in New York, NY and from the Sprayberry Academy of Radio and Television.
Mr. Lessard worked in the engineering department of Sanders Associates for 20 years. He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood, the American Legion Coffey Post, the Catholic War Veterans and the Oblate Retreat House in Hudson.
He was predeceased by a son, Raymond E. Lessard in 1991.
The family includes a brother, Marcel "Mel" Lessard of Manchester; sisters in law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday July 7, 2003 in St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, So. Beech St., Manchester.
