Robert A. Levesque, 90, of Manchester passed peacefully on January 3, 2017 at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH. Born in Manchester, NH on May 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Louise (Collette) and Clovis L. Levesque. He was predeceased by his wife Angele (Horion), a daughter Elaine Emery and a son-in-law Roger Compagna, as well as two brothers, Frank and Leo, and two sisters, Doris and Claire.
He is survived by his son Donald Levesque and wife JoAnn, of Philadelphia; and two daughters Connie Greenhill and husband Graeme of Manchester, and Collette Fordham and husband Gerald of Santa Fe, NM. His son-in-law, Michael Emery. He was a loving grandfather to Christine, Brendan, Colin, Aaron, Hannah, Kara, Evan and Julia, and to his ten great-grandchildren. He has one brother Raymond Levesque of Brooksville, FL and many nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific fleet during WWII, received an honorable discharge and continued to serve for many years in the National Reserve. He was self employed for many years, selling and installing aluminum doors and windows. He also worked in sales and sold real estate. He worked for the City of Manchester Housing Authority prior to his retirement.
He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and an avid bowler, participating in many competitions in the bowling leagues of Manchester. He loved all sports and was a devoted attendee to sporting events involving his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan and, after waiting for 78 years, was thrilled when they won the World Series.
After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winter months as well as many trips to different parts of the country to visit family and friends. He was a multitalented man, a woodworking craftsman who built many beautiful pieces of furniture, toys, game boards, looms and other items, which his family will treasure for years to come.
He touched so many lives and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His sense of humor and storytelling were legendary and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A brief memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm Street. Burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, at a later date.
