Nothing we can say could better sum up his humor and outlook on life than what he wrote in his “40’s Lament”
40’s Lament
I’m told with age comes maturing, peace of mind, content enduring. But I think it’s all a lie, while sitting here and pondering why. Reality shows it’s all downhill, teeth with nothing left to fill. Wrinkles flowing, my nose is growing, stature’s getting smaller still. Belly’s inching to my knees, and in addition to all of these… Where’s libido, eyesight and coordination when nature calls at each gas station? Did you say stop your fearing…can’t since someone’s tinkered with my hearing. I’m mulling now it’s all a jest while sitting here in needed rest... Oh my God I’ve Grown Some Breast! But really do I care cause I’ve retained this savoir-faire… And did I mention I’ve lost my hair? Now I think it's time to go but where I just don’t seem to know. And even if my chores are pressing I’ve forgotten, OH WHAT A BLESSING!
